From November 1, 2026, LINE Official Account's Medium plan costs NT$1,000 and the High plan NT$1,400. Which messages are billed, which are free, and what accounts with 1,000 to 45,000 friends pay each month, all in one table.

Starting November 1, 2026, LINE Official Account is changing its monthly fees: the Medium plan rises from NT$800 to NT$1,000, and the High plan from NT$1,200 to NT$1,400. The free plan stays the same, and so do the free message allowances on every plan.

But for most businesses, the extra cost doesn't come from the monthly fee. It comes fromnot knowing which messages are billed. This article covers the plans, the billing rules, and cost estimates for different friend counts in one place.

All figures are based on official LINE Biz-Solutions announcements, and all amounts arebefore tax。

The three plans from November 1, 2026

Plan Monthly fee (pre-tax) Free messages per month If you go over Fee before November
Light NT$0 200 messages No add-ons; messages can't be sent NT$0
Medium NT$1,000 3,000 messages No add-ons; upgrade to High NT$800
High NT$1,400 6,000 messages Add-ons available NT$1,200

High plan add-on pricing (beyond 6,000 messages):

  • Messages 1–50,000: NT$0.2 each
  • From message 50,001: NT$0.15 each

The monthly fee is charged to your credit card on the 1st of each month; add-on charges are billed on the 10th of the following month.

What counts as one message

This is where most people get it wrong."One message" isn't one press of the send button. It's the number of friends who receive it.

A single broadcast to 1,000 friends counts as 1,000 messages. On the Light plan, one broadcast to 201 people already exceeds the 200-message allowance.

Billed:

  • Broadcast and segmented messages (counted by the number of friends who receive them)
  • Messages pushed proactively via the API (Push API: notifications the system sends without the customer messaging first)

Not billed (officially stated):

  • One-on-one chat: a customer messages you and you reply in the chat
  • Auto-response messages
  • Greeting messages when someone adds you as a friend
  • Replies via the Reply API: automated replies triggered by a customer's message are free when sent right away

That last point matters a lot for businesses running AI customer service or booking systems. The exact same message is free when sent with Reply the moment the customer asks; send it a few minutes later with Push, and it counts against your quota. We've run into this on client systems too: if staff replies from the back office go out via Push, every single message eats into the free allowance. This needs to be planned at the design stage.

Monthly cost estimates by friend count

Assuming everything is sent as broadcasts, here's what you'd actually pay each month (pre-tax):

Friends × broadcasts per month Monthly message volume Best-fit plan Monthly cost
150 × 1 150 messages Light NT$0
700 × 4 2,800 messages Medium NT$1,000
1,500 × 4 6,000 messages High NT$1,400
10,000 × 4 40,000 messages High + 34,000 add-on messages NT$8,200
45,000 × 2 90,000 messages High + 84,000 add-on messages NT$16,500

How the last row works: 84,000 add-on messages; the first 50,000 × NT$0.2 = NT$10,000, the remaining 34,000 × NT$0.15 = NT$5,100, plus the NT$1,400 monthly fee, for a total of NT$16,500. Including 5% tax, about NT$17,325.

The Medium plan trap:It has no add-ons. A business approaching 750 friends that wants to broadcast once a week will hit the limit before month's end on Medium. In that case, go straight to High; it's only NT$400 more.

Five ways to cut messaging costs

  1. Segment instead of sending to everyone.Send only to friends who've engaged recently or match specific tags. Of 10,000 friends, often only 10–20% are actually reading.
  2. Reply instead of push whenever you can.Let customers ask for themselves through rich menus and keywords, and deliver information as replies, which aren't billed.
  3. Route system notifications through Reply. For messages sent right after a customer takes an action, such as booking confirmations, replying instantly with Reply doesn't use up your quota.
  4. Pack everything into one broadcast.A single broadcast can hold up to 3 message bubbles (text, images, rich cards), using a third of the messages compared with sending three separate times.
  5. Estimate with your active friend count, not your total.Broadcasts are billed by actual recipients. People who've blocked you don't receive them and aren't billed. The active friend count in your dashboard is the number you actually pay for.

One more heads-up: premium IDs go up in 2027 too

A premium ID is the one you choose yourself, like @你的店名(as opposed to the random system-assigned @123abcde). LINE has announced a planned change starting March 2027 (pre-tax):

Payment method Current After change
Web / Android, annual NT$720 NT$1,500
iOS in-app purchase, annual NT$1,038 NT$2,100

If you already have a premium ID, check the charge amount before it renews.

FAQ

Is the free LINE Official Account plan enough?

It includes only 200 messages a month, counted by the number of friends who receive them. With fewer than 200 friends and one broadcast a month, it's enough; beyond that, you'll need to upgrade. If you only use it for one-on-one chat and auto-responses, the free plan is always enough, since those aren't billed.

Does replying to customers in one-on-one chat cost money?

No. Replying in chat, auto-responses, and greeting messages don't count toward your message quota. What costs money is what you send out proactively: broadcasts, segmented messages, and API push messages.

What happens if I exceed my free messages?

Light and Medium plans have no add-ons, so messages simply won't send. The High plan bills at add-on rates, and you can set a monthly add-on cap in the dashboard to avoid unexpected spikes.

Do LINE Official Account fees include tax?

No. All officially announced amounts are pre-tax; actual charges include an additional 5% business tax.

What do existing accounts need to do about the November price increase?

Nothing. Accounts still on Medium or High after October 27 are considered to have accepted the new pricing and will be charged at the new rates automatically from November 1. If it's no longer worth it, you can downgrade in the dashboard at any time.

Will connecting AI customer service drive up messaging costs?

No, as long as it's designed correctly. When a customer asks and the AI replies right away with Reply, it's free. What costs money is proactive follow-up pushes, such as next-day reminders.

Want to bring messaging costs down?

If your official account's broadcast costs keep climbing, the fix usually isn't switching plans. It's shifting from "push" to "reply when customers ask." That's exactly how our LINE AI customer service works: customers ask anytime, the AI replies instantly, and no message quota is used. Details are in LINE bot development and AI customer service, and the system's own development costs are broken down separately in How much does LINE bot development cost?。

Plan pricing is based on the LINE Biz-Solutions announcement of September 1, 2026, effective November 1, 2026; all amounts are pre-tax. The premium ID change is an official advance notice; the actual effective date is subject to LINE's official notification.
